Lackland Air Force Base is a United States Air Force base located in Bexar County, Texas. The base is under the jurisdiction of the 802d Mission Support Group, Air Education and Training Command, and an enclave of the town of San Antonio. It is the only place for Air Force assigned Basic Military Training.
As of the census of 2000, 7,123 people, 174 households, and 152 families resided on the base. The state mass was 642.6/km2. There were 412 dwelling units at an average density of 37.2/km2. The town’s racial makeup was 65.20% White. 19.01% Black or African American, 0.86% Resident American, 3.64% Asian, 0.32% Pacific Islander, 2.20% from other nationalities, and 8.77% from two or more organizations. 13.77% of the residents were Hispanic or Latino of any type.
